Dear Club Leaders,

The Share Magazine is an important part of being a GEM and Cadet. It provides GEMS and Cadets with a connection with others doing the same journey in different places. It also is an important piece of how we as the GEMS and Cadet Board encourage GEMS and Cadets to explore other activities, keep their families informed of what a neat ministry their children are engaged in and promote the ministry.

It is the largest part of the GEMS and Cadet budget, and as a Board we are keen to continue with its publication. To do this successfully we have instituted a club contribution roster – which on early indications is going well.

However – we are keen for even more involvement! So for the remainder of the year – we are running a competition for clubs… To participate – you will need to provide (IN ADDITION TO THE ROSTER):

• One interview by a GEM or Cadet of a Councillor / Leader (including a picture of both the leader and interview author) about why GEMS or Cadets is Cool– approximately 200 words
• One club activity report by a GEM or Cadet (including at least two pictures, plus one of the report author) – approximately 300 words
• One “funnies” page for the back of the Share Magazine – this could also be riddles or poems, not necessarily ‘jokes’
• One set of instructions on how to play your favourite club game (either involving the whole club – or small group / cadre), along with pictures showing you playing the game. (If a GEM or Cadet completes this one – a picture of the author will be needed).

Each GEM or Cadet contributor will receive a “journalist” badge from the board (so please supply names & a picture of each contributor).

One winning club will receive $200 for help buying tents, supplies or whatever you wish. Two other clubs will receive $100… The Board will decide the winners based on the quality of the submissions.

The plan is to use as many of the submissions for the next Share Magazines as possible.

All entries must be in by the 30th of November – but the earlier they get in, the more likely they will end up in this years final Share Magazine.
